Dual Fuel Heat Pump with Natural Gas Backup
Tier 1 and Tier 2 Dual Fuel Heat Pump with Natural Gas Backup

Dual-Fuel heat pumps take advantage of the high-efficiency of heat pumps in warmer temperatures (>40°F), while providing a more comfortable heat during colder temperatures. High-efficiency models have higher SEER and a high annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE).

Applicability

Retrofit installations which replace a heat pump OR a lower efficiency AC and Natural Gas Furnace combo are eligible for rebate via a post-purchase application process.

Equipment Eligibility & Rebate Level

Tier 1: Qualifying split system equipment must meet or exceed 15 SEER, 12 EER, 8.3 HSPF, and 90% AFUE. Qualifying single packaged equipment must meet or exceed 15 SEER, 11 EER, 8.1 HSPF, and 90% AFUE. Equipment must be purchased as a new unit. To be eligible for a rebate, the installation must be a complete system recognized by AHRI and have an official AHRI rating. Systems that do not have an AHRI rating will not qualify for the rebate since the efficiency cannot be verified by a standardized method. The rebate for Tier 1 Dual-Fuel Heat Pumps with Natural Gas Furnace is $1,500 per unit.

Tier 2: Qualifying system equipment must meet or exceed 16 SEER, 12 EER, 8.5 HSPF, and 95% AFUE. Equipment must be purchased as a new unit. To be eligible for a rebate, the installation must be a complete system recognized by AHRI and have an official AHRI rating. Systems that do not have an AHRI rating will not qualify for the rebate since the efficiency cannot be verified by a standardized method. The rebate for Tier 2 Dual-Fuel Heat Pump with Natural Gas Furnace is $1,650 per unit.
